Sylvie Hooghe
Ceramist in Forcalquier
Sylvie Hooghe works with porcelain, on the plate, in very soft pastel tones. The very contemporary style of her utilitarian pieces (cups, bowls, salad bowls, teapot, etc.) alternates straight lines and -falsely- torn edges, to better reveal the material and the ceramist's work thus exposed. The unstructured shape further gives each of her pieces its unique status. She also revisits the traditional porcelain tea cup, giving it an irregular surface, to better reflect the hand shaping.
